Jan Schweiger

biograpy

He studied in choral and orchestral conducting graduated from the Austrian-born January Schweiger at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. He was musical director of several choirs in Austria and Germany, as well as a singer in the Arnold Schoenberg Choir, where he sang among others under Erwin Ortner, Sir Simon Rattle and Claudio Abbado.

2007 to 2013 he was choir director and conductor in Heidelberg and was honored for his work with the PRICE OF FRIENDS CIRCLE of 2009. Here he studied for one with the choir productions such as La Bohème, Idomeneo, Eugene Onegin, Fidelio, Otello, Aida or Mazeppa.

He has conducted opera performances, among others, Le nozze di Figaro, The Magic Flute, Orpheus in the Underworld, The Bat and Requiem.

As a concert conductor, he conducted in Heidelberg include Mozart's Requiem, Requiem of the Romanian composer Myriam Marbe and the Magnificat and cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach. Regular in appearance, it also acts as conductor and singer own a capella choirs and ensembles. Since the season 2013 | 14, Jan Schweiger choirmaster at the Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp, Belgium.
