Reinhard Petersen


Reinhard Petersen was born in 1943 in Hamburg, where he received his musical training at the Academy of Music. At the Staatstheater Hannover he started in 1965 as a coach and in 1967 2nd Kapellmeister.

In 1972 he went as 1st Kapellmeister at the Wuppertal Opera House and moved in 1975 in the same position at the Hamburg State Opera.

In 1976, Reinhard Petersen music director at the State Theatre Coburg, 1981, he moved to the city of Nuremberg and theater came in 1991 as Music Director for Theater Trier. He has also been appointed to the director. His longest tenure as Music Director he held from 1995 to 2008 at the Staatstheater Cottbus.

In addition, Reinhard Petersen led a guest conductor, among others at the opera houses of Bremen, Darmstadt, Frankfurt, Mannheim, Nuremberg, Prague and St. Gallen. He gave guest concerts both in Germany with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Staatskapelle Weimar and the orchestras of Bielefeld, Bremen, Essen, Gotha, Munich, Nuremberg, Oldenburg, Solingen and Wuppertal, as well as abroad, inter alia, Seville, Shanghai, St. Gallen and Zielona Gora (Poland).
