biography

Founded in 1986 the HAMBURGER CAMERATA chamber orchestra made its name with unusual programmes and interpretations.
Excellent technical precision and unconventional lifelines of playing distinguish the ensemble as much as loyalty to style, a flexible chamber sound and vital enthusiasm.

The orchestra gained its special position within the Hamburg music scene with its annual concert series in the Laeiszhalle Hamburg under the direction of Max Pommer, Claus Bantzer and Ralf Gothóni. Typifying these concerts are diversified programmes from chamber musical symphony to symphonic chamber music and a dedication to modern music.

The ensemble gave concerts with huge success in numerous German cities and at international music festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the MDR Musiksommer, the Wartburg Konzerte, the Weimarer Klassik and the Usedomer Musikfestival.

The Hamburger Camerata also made guest appearances in countries such as Switzerland, Spain, France and Poland on multiple occasions.
