Kaja Plessing, mezzosoprano


biography


Kaja Plessing studied opera at the "Hochschule für Musik und Theater", Hannover. After receiving her diploma she worked as a guest singer at the Opera houses in Hannover and Hildesheim.

From 1993-1996 she was a soloist with the Düsseldorf/ Duis-burg Opera companies where she sang such roles as Hänsel in "Hänsel and Gretel, Olga in "Eugin Onegin",Mercedes in "Carmen" and Hippolyta in "A Midsummer Nights Dream".

From 2002-2007 she was a soloist of the opera ensemble in Bielefeld, where she performed such roles as: Orpheus in Glucks "Orpheus and Euridice", Johanna in Tschaikowskys "Jeanne dÀrc", Orlofsky in "The Fledermaus" just to mention a few.  Guest appearances have brought her to other Opera companies including Mannheim and Weimar.

Kaja Plessing is also an accomplished concert and art song singer with a wide repertoire.  Concerts have taken her to places like Paris, St. Petersburg and New York.

Miss Plessing is presently teaching, beside her singing activities, at the Otto Falckenbergschule in Munich.
