TROUBADISC Artists

The Dutch baritone Maarten Koningsberger has appeared in many opera¹s from Monteverdi to Mozart to Menotti. This wide range of styles is also reflected in his recitals with such pianists as Graham Johnson, Rudolf Jansen, Irwin Gage and Kelvin Grout, or with lutenist Fred Jacobs . He is a regular guest at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw as well as in many other mayor concerthalls in Europe. He also appeared in concert in South Africa, the Far East, Israel and Canada, always highly acclaimed by the press.

Maarten Koningsberger sang with orchestras such as the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightment, Combattimento Consort Amsterdam, Les Arts Florissants, Tafelmusic and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra under conductors such as Ton Koopman, William Christie, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Hans Vonk, Jaap van Sweeden and Jeffrey Tate.

His CD-recordings include lute- and consortsongs (a.o. Byrd, Dowland, Wigthorpe), Baroque Cantates (Campra, van Blankenburg), Lieder and Mélodies (a.o vol.28 in the  Hyperion Schubert Edition), opera and oratorio (a.o. Les Grands Motets de Mondonville with Les Arts Florissants and The Hollow Men by Kees van Baaren with Reinbert de Leeuw).

He recorded for TROUBADISC Mélodies by Milhaud, Songs by Smyth and Lieder by Fanny Mendelssohn.

Recently Schuberts Winterreise and Die schöne Müllerin were released.

Maarten Koningsberger teaches at the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music.
