Melinda Paulsen, Mezzosoprano


Melinda Paulsen was born 1964 and grew up in the USA/federal state Indiana.
After the "Bachelor of Arts" with distinction she came to Germany in 1988 and continued her studies in a 2-year postgraduate studies with Prof. Daphne Evangelatos at the Munich Academy of Music continues.

Following its 1991 engaged at the Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Theatre (lessons with KS Astrid Varnay, participation, inter alia in the Bavarian State Theatre). In 1992 she won the 2nd prize at the prestigious international ARD Competition in Munich.

Her concerts executes et al in the Vienna Musikverein, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Berlin Konzerthaus and the Munich Philharmonic, with conductors such as Marek Janowski, Helmuth Rilling, Roberto Abbado and Enoch zu Guttenberg. It occurs in opera productions at home and abroad and is guest at international festivals (Rheingau Music Festival, Handel Festival / Halle, Bregenz Festival).

First recording of songs Nadia Boulanger and Ethel Smyth testify their skills in song singing from and radio recordings of Schubert, Schumann and Strauss. Bayerischer Rundfunk numerous concert recordings of cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach were recorded. From 1997 to 2003 was Melinda Paulsen lecturer of singing at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz; in the summer semester 2003, she became a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Frankfurt am Main, was appointed.
