The 1st CD release of the Edition "Violin Solo" with the violinist Renate Eggebrecht recalls Bach's at times strong
stylistic influence and has surprised with works by Max Reger, Johanna Senfter, Nikos Skalkottas and Arthur Honegger.
The new SACD recording VIOLIN SOLO Vol.2 “Modern Solo Works for Violin with Folkloristic Background” is dedicated to the exploration of a completely different principle of creative activity. Veneration of Bach and folkloristic inclinations prove here to be especially fruitful stimuli.
That which links the Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz, the Hungarian Béla Bartók, the Frenchman Darius Milhaud, the Greek Dimitri Nicolau, and the Czech Erwin Schulhoff are their roots, however differently they may be perceived, in the folk music of their native countries.
Dimitri Nicolau’s Sonata in Greek Mood, composed 2002 is dedicated to the violinist Renate Eggebrecht, who offers here the premiere recording of this work. The musician mobilize the whole spectrum of musical imagination, as well as an irrepressible delight in music-making.
With such a musical goal, what could be better than a recording in multi-channel recording technique in Super Audio / Stereo format ? The experience of listening to a hybrid Super Audio CD is a fantastic treat ! And violinist Renate Eggebrecht elicits from her violin everything that the “queen of instruments” has to offer: “…an ocean of fresh tones”.
